Maternity Jeans

There are not many things that make a pregnant woman feel more “normal” than a good-fitting pair of jeans. There is nothing old-school maternity about the modern woman’s ability to wear jeans while pregnant. Jeans are modern, jeans are fun, and jeans are sexy.

The invention of the fabulous Belly Band allows the pregnant woman to wear her low-rise jeans and skirts a little while longer than before, and adds additional support and detail to maternity fashions. When purchasing maternity jeans, a pregnant woman can feel free to look for the same style she was wearing in her non-pregnant life.

If she is open to new styles of jeans, there are certain features that work very well on the pregnant frame. A gentle, feminine flare at the knee is nice for accentuating the new curves of pregnancy. When deciding between relaxed fit and stretch, choose stretch only if you have maintained slim legs. Relaxed fit is best for hiding imperfections. However, combining a slim thigh with a gently flared leg is flattering on just about everyone.

Low-rise jeans are widely considered to be the most comfortable maternity jeans. Instead of what used to be a belly covering panel on the front of a mid or even hi-rise jean, low-rise maternity jeans feature a soft jersey maternity band. This band runs along the top of a traditional pair of non-maternity low-rise jeans, and hugs the bottom of the bump, offering support and comfort.

Short or overweight women are often warned against wearing cropped jeans. However, a fit pregnant woman does not fall into the category of overweight, and should feel very comfortable donning cropped maternity jeans, especially in the warmer months.

Maternity jeans are a staple part of every modern mother’s wardrobe, and she should own at least one light-washed, and one dark-washed pair. Many pregnant women complain of feeling frumpy; nothing will fix that like a slimming pair of maternity jeans.
